Master class “Epigenetics” was conducted by Professors of the University of Poitiers (France) Paul Seite and Brigitte Vannier in the framework of the Erasmus Mundus “CASEU” project

Master class “Epigenetics” for teaching staff and researchers in the framework of the “Central Asian and European Universities” (CASEU) project was held from March 27 to April 5, 2018 at Department of Biology of Karaganda State Medical University by professors of the University of Poitiers (France) Paule Seite and Brigitte Vannier.

the topic of this master class was the concept of epigenetics and its importance for personalized medicine, what role epigenetics plays today.

Professors Paul Seite and Brigitte Vannier presented demonstrations on the basic concepts of epigenetics, genome organization, histone modification and remodeling of chromatin, therapy and personalization of the drug. listeners took an active part in discussions.

Professors of the University of Poitiers (France) Paul Seite and Brigitte Vannier together with university teachers, at the Department of Biology and in the Laboratory of Collective Use, conducted a PCR experiment to determine MycN-gene in human cell lines. During the work the professors and listeners discussed the problematic issues of the mechanism for conducting and technical analysis of the work.

Also, a lot of attention was paid to reading and writing of articles, publications in journals with high impact factor.

“Epigenetics proves that we are responsible for the integrity of our genome. We used to think that only genes predetermine who we are. Today we know for sure: everything we do, everything that we eat, drink, our way of life has an effect on the activity of our genes and genes of future generations.

Epigenetics offers us a new concept of free choice. “
